Wedding Favors -Cake servers

Presenting wedding favors for your female guests will undoubtedly send a more personal message to thank them for attending. There are an infinite number of small gifts that can be purchased relatively inexpensively, and will be very much appreciated. The idea is to wrap each one, place a thank you tag on them, and then place them in a large decorated basket at the entrance of the reception area. This allows your guests to receive their thank you immediately upon arrival.

They will be quite pleased with the fact that they are receiving something practical that can be used later, rather than worrying about where they will put it on display the next time you visit their home. "smile"

Of course don't purchase them until you have a good guest count of your female guests, and don't forget to include the mothers and bridal party. They will want one too!

There are numerous ideas that you could use for wedding favors and wrap as illustrated here. This one in particular was the result of a renewal of vows at an anniversary wedding, where cake servers where given as wedding favors to the female guests. The guests are still raving and using them and it's been a couple of years since.

Suggestions for wedding favors:  soap, hand cream, utensils, vases, picture frames, and so much more. Anything that can be purchased inexspensively or hand made gifts are even better. If you are someone who sews, handmade handkerchiefs, pot holders, trivets, anything will be very much appreciated. Providing you have the time to make enough for the amount of female guests you are inviting.

Items Required:

  1. Scissors
  2. Tape
  3. Small Flowers (anything that fits flower theme)
  4. Freezer Paper
  5. Ribbon (anything that fits your color theme)
  6. Tulle (purchase a spool of 6 or 8 inch wide) can be found at local craft store–any color)
  7. Gift (of your choice) example uses a cake server for female guests.

Directions:

  1. Cut freezer paper for size of gift.
  2. Wrap and tape as you would any gift.
  3. Make sure that the dull side of paper is on the outside. This looks more like real gift paper.
  4. Cut a piece of tulle according to size of gift leaving enough extra for tails. Tie a regular bow, like you would your shoelaces and then fluff the tulle to make the bow stand out.
  1. Cut a length of thin satin ribbon (color to match your theme) and tie around the center of tulle. Make a bow like you would your shoelace.
  1. Cut a small piece of flower with enough stem left to tuck behind the tulle.

Making the tag:

  1. Use paper of your choice. Color can be fine as long as the text is visible.
  2. Using a word processor on your computer, type what you wish to say, or a short poem, and the copy paste down the rest of the page. You can also add a small flower graphic on the tag if you wish.

Example:          “Our sincerest thank you for sharing in our special day.

Please accept this gift as a token of our appreciation.

We hope that it will serve you well in the future.”

The wording can be anything. Try to make tie it to the gift in some special way. For instance in this example the cake server and the words serve you well creatively tie together.

  1. Print and cut the tags to size. If desired cut the paper with scrapbook scissors with unique edging or punch with scrapbook tools such as hearts. Whatever relates to your theme.
  2. Tape onto the gift.

Finally, you need to decide where the wedding favors will be placed. They could be placed on the dinner plate, or on the guest tables. Try placing them in a basket at the entrance. For directions on basket ideas and decorations see the decoration link on the home page.
