DRESS STYLES

Ballgown - This is probably the gown style you envisioned as a child and related to cinderella. The gown has a full skirt along with a very fitted bodice and waist.

     This gown is best suited for those who are tall, or have full figure or very slim figures. The gown tends to hide the behind.

Basque - A basque style gown is one that dips down below the normal waitline and forms a "V" or point in the front and back of the gown.

     This gown is best suited for those brides with a pear shaped build. It tends to make the waist slimmer and hide the behind.

Dropped - This style drops below the normal waistline and rides on the hips.

     This style is best suited for those who have a hourglass figure as it does excentuate the figure.

Empire - This style has a small short scooped bodice with a high waistline just under the bossom. It also has a slender skirt more "A" line type.

     This style is best suited for brides with a larger waistline. It tens to hide the middle. This style is also seen in many of the older period style gowns.

Mermaid - This wedding dress style is more fitted to the knee, then flares out.

     This style is best suited for very tall slim brides. The tightness at the knee breaks up the height.

Sheath - This style is extremely narrow and straight. It hugs all aspects of the body at the hips, waist, and bossom.

     This style is only recommended for the slim with either height or very small petite figures.


Necklines
 
Bateau - This neckline follow the curve of the collarbone between the shoulders. It can also be referred to as "Sabrina."

Halter - The neck style wraps around the neck; and typically leaves arms and back open or bare.

Off-the-Shoulder - The neckline is fitted just below the shoulders and can have either long or short sleeves. This one can be a problem for a short bride with a tall groom. It you need to lift your arms high to dance with your partner, it can be difficult.

One-Shoulder - This neck style is an asymmetrical type where one of the shoulders is covered up and the other is bare.

Portrait - Styles with a portrait cut are slightly scooped and then have extra material that frames the neckline.

Scoop - This is a deep U-shaped neckline. Women with large bossoms may tend to bulge with this style if the scoop is too low and tight.

Square - This neckline style has straps and a straight square shaped cut.

Strapless - This style of neckline goes straight across the body just above the bust. There are no straps over the shoulder. Typically the strapless hugs the bust and may come with a built in bra for the less bustier brides.

Sweetheart - This style is simply a neckline that is heart shaped and has curved lines across the chest resembling a heart.

T-Shirt or Jewel - This style has a round neckline right at the bottom of the neck and resembles that of a T-shirt.

V-Neck -The v-neck style begins it's drop from shoulders down to the collarbone that resembles a "V".
