An alternative to save money is to place a small layer cake on each table toserve as the centerpiece, with flowers on top of each. The is a great way to save on the cost of cake and eliminate the need for centerpieces on the tables. Generally thebakery will reduce the cost per slice because the intricacy is reduced.
#2 Sheet Cake:
Conversely, if you would rather have a very small traditional style cake along with a sheet cake that gets slice and served from the kitchen; your guests won’t know the difference and you can save a substantial amount of money!!
You might also choose not to have a large cake to feed the number of guests and also serve pastries or cookie cakes instead. This is not to say you can't have both. There are many choices that include, cream puffs, neapolitans, and
fancy desserts rather than the traditional large cake.
#3 Phony Layers:
For instance if you want a particular style cake with several tiers, but don’t really have the number of guests to feed that many, ask the vendor if they can create phony layers. This way you won’t be paying for wasted cake to get a traditional style tiered cake.
